Ingredients
- Rolled oats (own brand is fine)
- 50g
- Milk or fortified plant milk
- 150ml
- Chia seeds
- 1 tbsp
- Frozen mixed berries
- 75g
- Honey or agave (optional)
- 1 tsp
Method
- Tip the oats, chia seeds and milk into a jar or any container with a lid.
- Seal it and shake it properly. This matters more than it sounds: chia clumps if you just stir it, and nobody wants a gelatinous lump at the bottom.
- Scatter the frozen berries over the top. Don't stir them in.
- Fridge overnight. The oats and chia drink the milk, the berries thaw and bleed their juice down through the jar, and you wake up to something that looks like it cost £4 in a coffee shop.
Why it works. Oats and chia are both packed with soluble fibre, which slows how fast the carbs hit your bloodstream. That is the whole trick: no 10am crash. The frozen berries are the cheapest vitamin C you can buy and they count towards your five a day.
